Water heater leaking at base, repair or replace?

My 10-year-old Rheem water heater in Calgary started leaking water from the base. No rust around yet but puddling on the floor. Is it worth repairing or should I just bite the bullet and replace? How much are new units these days, and any recommendations for energy-efficient models?

At 10 years, it’s often more cost-effective to replace. New tankless options can save on energy bills.

Check if your leak is from the drain valve or tank itself; sometimes valve replacement helps.
