Best lawn mower for thick grass in Ottawa suburbs?

Moved to a house in Ottawa suburbs with thick, slightly uneven lawn. Looking for a mower recommendation that handles tall grass well without bogging down. Prefer a gas mower, but open to battery models if they have enough power. Budget around $500. Any brand/model suggestions?

Honda mowers are solid but can be pricey. Check Costco sales, sometimes they have good deals.

Battery mowers have come a long way; EGO brand is popular here and strong enough for thick grass.

Make sure the mower deck is at least 21 inches to handle bigger loads.
