Best Flooring Options for High Traffic Areas?

Kevin MacDonald · · 4 replies

Hi Calgary folks! I’m looking to replace the flooring in my home, particularly in the living room and kitchen, as these areas see a lot of foot traffic. I’m torn between laminate, tile, and even luxury vinyl. I want something that’s durable and easy to clean, but I also want it to look good. What has worked best for you in high traffic areas? Any recommendations or pitfalls to avoid would be appreciated! How do your floors hold up against Calgary’s climate?

Hey Calgary friends! I totally feel you on the flooring dilemma! I just went through this myself, and while I was leaning towards luxury vinyl for the durability, I ended up going with laminate since it gives you that nice wood look and is super budget-friendly. Plus, the installation was a breeze — I did it over the course of a weekend! Just make sure to get some good underlayment for sound insulation. You can add some cool area rugs to spice things up too. How about adding a pop of color or a funky pattern to your space? Let's hear your ideas!

Hey Calgary friends! I totally feel you on the flooring struggle. I recently went through a similar dilemma and ended up installing luxury vinyl in my kitchen and living room. Not only does it look fantastic, but it’s also super durable and easy to clean after my gardening messes (you know how it is!). Plus, it’s softer underfoot than tile, which is a big win when you’re on your feet all day! Have you thought about checking out any local stores that might have some samples? You’d be surprised at the options out there!

Hey there! Great question about flooring options. I recently redid my living room in Winnipeg, and I went with luxury vinyl. It's super durable, and you can hardly tell it’s not real wood! Plus, it’s a breeze to clean up after my dog’s little messes. Have you thought about how much maintenance you’re willing to put in? Also, what kind of style are you going for? It’s so easy to get lost in all the pretty options out there!

Hey Calgary folks! When it comes to high-traffic areas, I highly recommend looking into luxury vinyl plank (LVP) flooring. It’s incredibly durable, resistant to scratches and moisture, and very easy to clean. Plus, it comes in a variety of styles that can mimic wood or tile, giving you that aesthetic without the maintenance hassle.

If you’re considering laminate, make sure to go for a higher AC rating for better durability. Tile is also a solid option, especially in kitchens for its longevity, but it can be cold and hard underfoot. Consider a nice area rug in your living room for warmth and comfort! Happy renovating!
