Best sealants for patching small roof leaks in rainy BC coast?

Ethan Tremblay · · 3 replies

My 1960s roof near Vancouver is developing small leaks around flashing. I want to try patching before a full reroof. Any recommendations for sealants that hold up well in rainy, humid BC weather? Considering something from Canadian Tire or Home Hardware. Would a silicone or polyurethane sealant work better?

Silicone sealants tend to be more flexible and waterproof, good for areas around flashing.

Polyurethane is tougher but might be less flexible. Check product specs for UV resistance too.

Look for roofing-specific sealants, not just general caulks.
