Dead car battery this morning in Vancouver—any tips before I buy a new one?

Woke up to a dead battery on my 2014 Honda Civic. Tried jump-starting but it only worked temporarily. Battery’s about 5 years old. Is it worth testing it at Canadian Tire or just buy a new one? Also, how reliable are those low-cost batteries from Costco? Thanks!

I’d get it tested first. Most Canadian Tire locations do a free battery test and will tell you if a replacement is necessary.

Costco batteries are decent, but check if they have the right cold cranking amps (CCA) for your climate. Vancouver winters can still be wet and chilly.

If jump start only worked briefly, probably time to replace. Batteries rarely come back from that state.
