Is it Time to Upgrade My AC Unit?
Kevin MacDonald · · 2 replies
With the heatwave currently hitting Toronto, I've been sweating bullets with my aging AC unit. It's been struggling to keep up, and I’m worried it might just pack it in any day now. I've seen a couple of brands getting good reviews, but I’m wondering if anyone has recommendations based on recent experiences? Also, what’s the best time to buy? I’ve heard prices tend to drop in the off-season, but with this heat, I might not be able to wait! Has anyone here made a recent purchase they can share about?

Hey there! I feel you on the AC struggle. Up here in Winnipeg, my unit is getting a workout too! Last summer, mine barely kept up, and I was sweating just thinking about the repairs. I ended up getting a newer model that has been a lifesaver during heatwaves. What brands are you looking at? And have you considered getting a professional to check if your current unit can be salvaged? Sometimes a good clean or a part replacement can make a big difference!

Hey fellow heat seekers! I feel you on the struggle with aging AC units — mine has been wheezing like an old man! Last summer, I bit the bullet and replaced mine with a unit that has smart technology. I can control it from my phone, which is a game changer. Just the other day, I cranked it up before I got home so I wouldn't walk into a sauna. Have any of you tried an energy-efficient model? I’m curious to hear about your experiences and if the investment paid off!
