Mini-split install advice for Vancouver condo - best brand and installer?

Kevin MacDonald · · 3 replies

Looking to install a mini-split system in my Vancouver condo to replace baseboard heaters. I’m aiming for something quiet and energy efficient. Heard good things about Mitsubishi and Daikin but they’re expensive. Also, wondering about recommended local installers who won’t rip me off and can handle the building’s strata rules. Anyone here done this recently? What should I expect to pay for a basic 12,000 BTU unit plus installation? Thanks!

I went with Daikin last year, paid about $3,500 CAD installed for 12,000 BTU in Burnaby. Installer was great and strata approved easily.

Check out EnerCare for mini splits; sometimes they have promotions and offer energy rebates in BC.

Make sure you get a heat pump style unit if you want heating in winter without baseboards.
