Painting walls in humid Ottawa summer – tips please!

Nicole Anderson · · 3 replies

Planning to repaint my living room walls this July in Ottawa where humidity can be high. Any tips on paint type or prepping walls so paint dries properly and avoids bubbles or peeling? Thinking of using Benjamin Moore Aura.

Aura is a great choice, just make sure to use a dehumidifier or air conditioner to keep the room dry during and after paint.

If humidity’s over 60%, paint won’t dry well. You might want to postpone or paint early in the morning when it’s cooler and less humid.

Clean and sand the walls well before painting, and consider a primer for best adhesion.
