We often hear that DIY repairs can save us a ton of cash, but is that really the case? I’ve been contemplating whether to tackle some maintenance issues in my rental properties myself instead of calling in the pros. On one hand, there’s the satisfaction of doing it myself and potentially saving money. But on the other, there are risks, especially if I mess something up and it leads to bigger issues down the road.
I've skimped on a few repairs before, thinking I could handle them, only to find out later that my attempts ended up costing more in the long run due to improper fixes. Plus, there’s the question of time. If I spend an entire weekend on a plumbing issue, that’s a weekend I could have spent managing tenants or tackling other important tasks.

DIY repairs can definitely save you some cash, but oh man, the hidden costs can sneak up on you! I once thought changing a leaky faucet was going to be a walk in the park. I had my YouTube video ready, tools lined up, and felt like a pro. But after a couple of hours, I ended up needing a new valve and a trip to the hardware store for parts I didn’t even know I needed! Not to mention the plumbing disaster I created before I finally figured it out. Sometimes those quick fixes turn into the longest projects! Anyone else had a similar experience?
