What’s the best waxing method for restoring shine on a dull white SUV?

My 2010 Toyota RAV4’s white paint looks dull and lacks that showroom shine. Should I use a compound first before waxing, or just polish? I have a rotary buffer but haven’t used it much. Budget is small, around CAD $50 for supplies from Canadian Tire. Any step-by-step advice appreciated!

Start with a polish to bring back shine before waxing. Compounds are more aggressive and can remove paint if not used carefully.

Use a dual-action polisher if you have one, rotary can be risky if you’re inexperienced.

I recommend Meguiar’s Cleaner Wax as a beginner-friendly option that combines mild polishing and waxing.
