Are DIY Landscaping Projects Worth the Hype?

As someone who's always been skeptical about quick fixes, I wanted to start a conversation about the seemingly endless DIY landscaping craze. YouTube is flooded with videos showing dramatic before-and-after transformations that make it look so easy. But, is it really as simple as it seems? Sure, you can save a few bucks, but what about the hidden costs involved?
I’ve seen many projects that start with enthusiasm and end up as overgrown messes or, worse, incomplete eyesores. Not to mention, you might invest in tools or materials that aren't really necessary. Plus, there’s the steep learning curve if you’re not naturally green-thumbed!
Let’s talk real experiences—has anyone embarked on a DIY landscaping project that either exceeded their expectations or fell flat? What were the unexpected challenges, and would you recommend it to others? Or is it better to leave it to the pros? I'm curious to hear your thoughts!

I've been down the DIY landscaping rabbit hole myself, and let me tell you, it can be a blast! I tried to create a butterfly garden last summer and ended up with more dirt on me than flowers planted. The trickiest part was definitely figuring out which plants actually attract butterflies. I thought I could just throw in some daisies, but nope! It's all about the right combinations. Maybe we need to start sharing our fails too — I have a great story about the time I accidentally bought invasive plants and turned my backyard into a jungle! Anyone else have fun DIY fails?
