Mounting a 55" TCL TV on drywall in Edmonton – best anchors?

Ava Roy · · 3 replies

Just bought a 55" TCL TV and planning to mount it on my living room drywall in Edmonton. The studs don’t line up with the mount brackets, so I’m considering heavy-duty drywall anchors. Any recommendations? I found some toggle bolts rated for 50 lbs at Home Depot but worried if that’s enough for a TV plus the mount.

For that size, it’s best to screw directly into studs. If not possible, use toggle bolts or molly bolts but check the total weight rating.

Have you thought about using a mounting plate that spreads the load over multiple screws? They sometimes help.

I mounted a 60" TV with toggle bolts in Calgary last year with no issues. Just make sure to buy the heavy-duty ones.
