Mini-split vs central AC in Montreal’s humid summers, pros/cons?

Nicole Taylor · · 3 replies

I’m weighing whether to install a ductless mini-split system or central AC for my Montreal home. Central AC is pricier to install but mini-splits seem easier and can do heating too. However, I’m worried about humidity control and noise. Anyone living in humid areas care to share their experience? Would a mini-split handle Montreal’s sticky summers well?

Mini-splits do a great job dehumidifying and are quieter than central AC. My Daikin system in Quebec City works perfectly.

Central AC with proper ducts can better handle large spaces and humidity but costs more upfront.

If your home is older without ducts, mini-split is easier and less invasive to install.
