Installed IKEA SEKTION cabinets in my basement kitchen - some tips

Kevin MacDonald · · 3 replies

Just finished installing IKEA SEKTION cabinets for my basement kitchenette in Montreal. Took about 8 hours single-handedly. Pro tip: order the soft-close hinges with the cabinets if you want quieter doors. Also, the pre-drilled holes sometimes don’t line up perfectly, so be ready with a drill and some patience. The cost was about CAD 1200 for all cabinets and drawers, way cheaper than custom. Highly recommend for budget-conscious projects.

Thanks for the tips! Did you add any special lighting inside or under the cabinets?

I found the assembly instructions to be a bit tricky too. Did you use any special tools?

IKEA is great for cost, but I ended up customizing some shelves for extra depth.
