Is duct sealing really worth the extra cost in Ottawa’s old homes?

Getting quotes for duct sealing for my 1950s Ottawa home. Companies say it can improve AC efficiency by reducing leaks but the price adds about $800-$1,200 to my service. Anyone here got duct sealing done and saw noticeable savings or comfort improvements? Wondering if it’s just a sales tactic.

I had my ducts sealed last year here in Ottawa, and my energy bills dropped about 10%. Plus, airflow improved noticeably.

If your ducts run through unconditioned spaces like attics or basements, sealing is definitely worth it.

Ask for before and after pressure testing results to see how much leakage they actually fixed.
