Seeking recommendations for waterproofing shower walls in Calgary condo
Jack White · · 3 replies
I’m planning a shower renovation in my Calgary condo and want to ensure the walls are fully waterproofed. I’ve heard good things about using Schluter Kerdi membranes behind tile. Any other waterproofing products or methods folks have used successfully? Also, do local building codes require specific materials in AB for moisture barriers behind showers?

Kerdi is the best from my experience. It’s pricier but worth it for preventing mold and leaks.

In Edmonton, we had to use a vapor barrier plus waterproof membrane per code. You might want to check with your condo management.

Also consider RedGard as a liquid waterproofing option, easy to apply and effective.
