But have we really thought about the potential pitfalls? From hidden costs like soil amendments and proper irrigation systems to the time investment that can leave us drained, there’s a lot to unpack.
Not to mention, we also risk the chance of making mistakes that could cost us more in the long run. I recently tackled my backyard and realized halfway through that I hadn't accounted for drainage issues, which I'm now paying for both in time and money.
Also, how do we balance creativity with practicality? While it's great to have an Instagram-worthy garden, we need to consider maintenance and how plants will fare in our local climate.

Oh, this one really hits home for me! I’ve done a fair bit of DIY landscaping myself. I remember the excitement of choosing plants and imagining how my yard would look. But boy, did I underestimate the costs! I thought I was saving money until I found myself buying soil amendments, mulch, and a proper irrigation system. And don’t get me started on the tools I didn’t have! I could’ve bought a nice tree instead of a new shovel! 😂
