With all the talk about climate change, it's got me wondering how our HVAC systems are holding up. We’ve seen record temperatures and crazy weather patterns that can really put a strain on both air conditioning and heating systems. Are we're prepared to handle these extremes?
I mean, a lot of us get those fancy programmable thermostats and energy-efficient units, but how often do we really think about how those will perform during a heatwave or a polar vortex? I've read that older units might struggle under these pressures—not to mention the costs of running them more often or needing repairs.
Plus, I can’t help but think about maintenance. Are we doing enough to ensure our systems are ready for these challenges? Or is it just a matter of time before we see a surge in HVAC failures? What have your experiences been with your AC and heating during extreme weather? Have any of you had to upgrade or replace your systems lately?
