Projector screen vs. painted wall: Which is better for a basement setup?

Thinking of setting up a home theatre in my Calgary basement. Considering either a 100" fixed projector screen or painting a wall with a projector screen paint (like Screen Goo). Anyone tried both? The basement walls are smooth drywall, but moisture can be an issue in winter.

I went with a screen painted wall in my Edmonton basement, but made sure to use waterproof sealant first.

Screens generally give better contrast and are easier to clean. I’d avoid painted walls if your basement floods.

You can combine both by painting and using an ambient light rejecting screen, but that’s pricier.
