Energy-efficient window upgrades worth the cost in Calgary?

Jenny Campbell · · 3 replies

Thinking about replacing all the single-pane windows in my 1975 Calgary bungalow with Energy Star-rated double-glazed units. Prices from local suppliers are around CAD 800-$1000 per window installed. Wondering if the energy savings justify the cost? Any locals who’ve done this and seen a difference in heating bills?

Definitely worth it if you’re planning to stay long term. My heating bills dropped by about 15%.

You could check if there are any Alberta energy rebates available—it helped offset my costs.

Consider triple-glazed too if you want maximum insulation, but they’re pricier.
